Collagen and Pregnancy

Collagen is a protein that is found throughout the body, particularly in skin, bones, ligaments, tendons, teeth, and connective tissues.

Why you should take collagen during pregnancy & breastfeeding?

  • Supports skin elasticity

Healthy, hydrated, and elastic skin will fare better during and post pregnancy. It has been reported that collagen can help with reducing stretch marks and loose skin post-pregnancy.

  • Digestive benefits

Collagen is comprised of amino acids (much like those found in bone broth), some of which can seal and heal the gut lining.

  • Collagen strengthens joints and ligaments to help your body carry the physical load.

Caring for a baby is physical work, and plenty of mums have sore necks, backs, and arms. Collagen can help with muscle soreness and injury.

  • Powder peptide collagen is a very beneficial to the skin.

Skin can go through significant changes (extra pigmentation, breakouts, and texture) and collagen can help with these.

  • While pregnancy can create lush, thick hair for many women (due to slower hair shedding), postpartum hair loss can also occur. Taking collagen can encourage new hair growth and healthy, strong hair.

Although peptide collagen is considered to be safe during pregnancy, it is always best to consult your doctor about the recommended dosages before incorporating any new supplement in your diet. The recommended amount of collagen is 2.8g a day.
